Why a mixed paper, and why it isn't enough on its own

A single mixed paper is a fast way to find out where your mental map has holes before you commit weeks of study to the wrong ones — a domain you keep missing here is worth a detour to that domain's own lesson page before you go any further. But this simulator can only ever test what a multiple-choice question can test: recognition and recall. It cannot watch you write a real NetworkPolicy from a blank file, debug a Pod stuck in CrashLoopBackOff on a cluster you didn't break yourself, or notice that you typed the right kubectl flags in the wrong order under time pressure — and three of these five certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS) are graded on exactly that kind of hands-on execution, not on picking the right option from a list. Treat a strong score here as permission to move on to performance practice, not as a substitute for it.

Recognizing the right answer and producing it cold are two different skills, and only the second one survives contact with a real exam. Retake the simulator a few days later; a rising score on a previously weak domain is a much more trustworthy signal than a single high score across the board.

Check your answers
  1. Because a real exam room, and real production work, don't announce which domain's knowledge you need next — mixing domains tests whether the knowledge is actually available on demand, not just recognizable right after you finished rereading that one page.
  2. It tells you the gap isn't conceptual — you understand the idea — it's procedural: you haven't yet built the muscle memory of typing the actual commands and manifests fast and correctly under a clock. That gap only closes with hands-on repetition on a real cluster, not with more multiple-choice practice.
  3. Any of the CKA/CKAD/CKS-flavored domains work as an answer — for example, Troubleshooting, RBAC and Admission Control, or Storage: knowing the right concept in the abstract is not the same as diagnosing a real broken Pod or writing a working PersistentVolumeClaim from scratch.
