The other eight can wait, possibly indefinitely.
- You're early-career and haven't found your specialization yet. This is the one case where breadth-first can be the right call rather than a trap — sampling nine ecosystems is a reasonable way to discover which one you actually want to go deep on. The risk described above is specifically for someone who already knows their lane and is being tempted to widen instead of deepen.
- Your budget or timeline genuinely doesn't support a multi-year commitment. Two or three tracks that map to your actual stack, finished and used, beat sixteen half-finished credentials with the early ones already lapsed past their two-year window before you reach the last few.
